History
The history of the nearby areas go back all the way to the Stone Age. A graveyard (Ylipää) from the Iron Age has been
found nearby. Next to this graveyard is located Ristinpelto which is known as the first Christian cemetary in
Finland.
The name “Ilmarine has been mentioned first time in written sources in 1418 and at the same time the name
“Harviainn”has been mentioned. During the Swedish power there were probably three farms in the village of
“Harviainn” One of these farms was Lonttinen, which was normally called as Harviainen. In 1540 the host of the farm
was Martti Pietarinpoika. In 17th century the farm ended up to the crown and worked as an augmentfarm of Ilmarinen in
the beginning of 18th century. In the half way of the 18th century the house was divided into Ylä-Lonttinen and
Ali-Lonttinen.
The oldest building nowadays in the shed which has been built in 1755. The main building made of logs has been built
in the 19th century. The other building made of bricks was built for the cattle and has been renovated in the
1910’s. In those days there were also places for cows, horses, pigs and storage for the feed. The last year to have
the cattle on this farm was 1977, but hens were kept until 1990’s
Farm Bed and Breakfast was started to build in the fall of 2001 after long lasting planning work. Everything has been
renovated with a respect for the old tradition and in a way to save the old spirit of the yard.
